Southwest Regional Fellows Take Part In Soup And Service

Vice President Peter Maiurro and fellows Libbey Davis and Jeff Hopfenbeck prepared and served food at the Manna Soup Kitchen in Durango on a recent trip to the Southwest Region. They joined forces with local volunteers and the mayor of Durango to put together a lunch for more than 100 people. (more…)

For thousands of 2011 college graduates, the transition from college life into the workforce has proved to be a difficult adjustment. Trading in textbooks, backpacks, and flip-flops for employee handbooks, briefcases, and business attire can be quite a shock. Underlying Causes of Hunger: A Follow Up

Stephanie South recently reported on problems underlying the hunger problem in rural Colorado. Most notably, Stephanie found through talking to organizations dealing with the issue, that the cost of car insurance and gas can prevent a large number of people from getting to work on time, if at all, reducing the amount of money they have to spend on food.
