Immersion in the Regions

Last month, the Fellows spent three days immersed in eight of the eleven regions El Pomar serves.  During that time, Fellows met with Council members, conducted Community Impact Visits, and met with local leaders in an effort to learn more about the communities throughout the state.  When they weren’t touring organizations or in meeting rooms, Fellows had a chance to capture some of the sights along the way. A news report from 2005 called Julie Penrose, wife of Spencer Penrose, the “Queen of Colorado Springs.” She was a socialite, a dedicated philanthropist, and an astute business leader who headed El Pomar Foundation and the Broadmoor Hotel after her husband’s death in 1939. (more…)

Summer Camps in Northwest Colorado

In July, El Pomar’s Northwest Regional Council convened for the third time in 2013. Nine months after making a multi-year funding commitment to a more effective three-phase pipeline program to guide middle school students to higher education, the Northwest Council has found itself not only celebrating accomplishments, but also facing new opportunities for growth.
