During a community impact visit to Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre (RMRT) in Grand Lake, Colorado, last week, Emily Orbanek, first-year and northwest regional fellow, took a knee on the stage in true Tebowing style.
RMRT was awarded a $10,000 capital grant from El Pomar Foundation in 2009 to aid in the construction of the new theatre. Previously, RMRT was sharing a community space with the Town Hall, but the 172 seats for the 73 performances, done primarily during the summer, were constantly sold out. With the help of El Pomar, other foundation donors, and the 450-member year-round community, RMRT completed a $5.2 million capital campaign during the midst of an economic downturn in order to construct the new theatre. RMRT now has 297 seats and needed amenities for its company and audience.
